Sustainability
Less is more.
The apparel industry as a whole needs to rethink how it goes to market. The fast fashion business model that drives industry behavior is predicated on the premise that more product means more revenue. The result is we burn or dump one garbage truck full of textiles into a landfill every second.
The fashion industry alone is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of global wastewater.
At Stokit we take a minimalist approach. While we relentlessly chase speed on two wheels, we like our fashion slow. Fewer releases of higher end product means that we all consume less and use what we do consume more.
Stokit uses less packaging and it is all 100% compostable. Even our stickers and tissue paper are made from wood pulp. For a product to be compostable it must break down by biological processes into natural elements that cause no harm to the environment, all within 90 days. As an added benefit, compostable materials create humus which significantly affects the bulk density of soil and contributes to its retention of moisture and nutrients for plants and trees.
Stokit is also proud to partner with One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. Their mission is to reforest the planet, one tree at a time. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide over 80% of the worlds biodiversity. Trees absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere and are key ingredients to 25% of all medicines.
One Tree Planted raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.
For every customer purchase Stokit will plant 1 tree. It's that simple.
